I am Curator and Professor of Microbial Genomics at the American Museum of Natural History in New York, NY. My research is on malaria parasites and other haemosporidian parasites that use non-human hosts. My lab also investigates the interaction of host microbiomes with parasites.

In addition to my scientific research, I am also active in promoting a better understanding of microbiology via public exhibits, books, blogs, and games.  See the "Outreach" tab for more information.

• Kelly Speer graduated from the Richard Gilder Graduate School on September 25. We already miss her.

• Johanna Harvey has joined the lab as a Gerstner Postdoctoral Scholar.

• Student Sarah Pangburn presented a poster at the Molecular Parasitology Meeting in Woods Hole in September.

• Lab alum Spencer Galen and co-authors have a new paper accepted at Molecular Ecology Resources.
